MEDIA ADVISORY

MPUMALANGA RETURN TO PLAY – “IT’S IN YOUR HANDS” SOCIAL MOBILISATION VACCINATION DRIVE BROUGHT TO YOU BY THE DEPARTMENT OF SPORT, ARTS AND CULTURE

The Department of Sport, Arts and Culture Minister Nathi Mthethwa invites members of the media to the Mpumalanga Return to Play – “It’s in your hands” social mobilisation vaccination tour, urging creative and sporting industry practitioners to vaccinate and to voluntarily drive community vaccinations with the objective of unlocking the creative and sporting economy. This Governmental effort is linked to our overall strategy that speaks to economic recovery and reconstruction as well as the protection of lives and livelihoods.

Government opened vaccinations to citizens between the ages of 18 and 34 with the objective of ramping up vaccinations towards reaching population immunity. The upcoming Mpumalanga mobilisation tour forms part of a broader vaccination campaign launched on the 8th of September 2021 by the Deputy President, David Mabuza, with the overall national campaign rollout led by Minister Nathi Mthethwa.

This time around, the mobilisation drive is hosted once more, with the office of the Deputy President as well as the Department of Health and the Mpumalanga Provincial Government with event details as follows:

Date: Friday, 17 September 2021
Venue: Mbombela Stadium, Mpumalanga
